SDC’s Government Aeronautical Service specialists will discuss contracting considerations specific to satcom services for US Government aircraft to a closed audience of Government representatives and prime contractors supporting military and government programs. This session will focus on: planning ahead for services, GSA schedule 70 SIN’s 132-55/54/8 and 51, test benches, inherent aero complexity, hardware, configurations and systems optimization. Also discussed in this session: CNS/ATM, managed terrestrial routing & redundant, activations process and timeline, flexibility among multiple services, SAS 70/MAC redundant shore infrastructure compliant with DOD and NIST policies and directives, applications, departmental billing, troubleshooting, training, end-user masking, lowering latency, faster authentication, smart forced routing, web based services and on-site support.
Session Title: Aeronautical Satcom Options
Presented By Robert McCord
SDC’s Government Aeronautical Service specialist will discuss aircraft satcom considerations for military and civil aircraft flying operational missions in the C4ISR or tactical environment. Analysis of basic requirements may drive a program toward small, lightweight and correspondingly lower data rate solutions or global, reliable broadband. Some missions may require even higher data rates in X, Ku and Ka Bands to stream various video sources. While X, Ku and Ka were not inherently designed to support global, always-on, aeronautical service, they can fill a niche for special aviation platforms – especially when considered part of a hybrid avionics package. This session will also cover Inmarsat’s emerging Global Xpress Ka service, customized Ku On-Demand options and Iridium’s NEXT generation which will bring an entirely new solution set by 2014 and beyond.
