This general session will discuss the capabilities of all Satcom Direct Mobile Applications. With the influx of mobile devices used by operators, Satcom Direct has transformed the way customers can send and receive information in-flight through the development of mobile applications. Pilots can now view interactive weather, request clearances and file flight plans from their iPad. Passengers are able to use their own smartphones to make calls from the aircraft. Ground crews now have the capability to message the aircraft while it is in flight, view real time usage information and track the aircraft worldwide. From the cabin to the flight deck, Satcom Direct’s mobile services give everyone on board the freedom to stay connected throughout the flight.

CMSgt, USAF (retired) Michael Tedford
United States Air Force Chief Master Sergeant (Retired) Michael W. Tedford served as the Chief, Air Force One Communications, Presidential Airlift Group, 89th Airlift Wing, Andrews Air Force Base, MD from June 1998 to July 2006. As the Chief of Communications with the Air Force One mission, he managed, directed, and led a team of communications and electronics systems specialists to provide continuous communications for the President and senior White House Staff. He developed, managed and planned upgrades to communications systems and operational procedures for all aircraft designated to support Air Force One mission roles. Mike has held qualifications in EC-135C “Looking Glass”, C-135B, C-20A/B, C-137B/C and VC-25A Special Air Mission aircraft and finished his flying career with more than 10,000 flying hours which took him to over 100 countries. Mr. Tedford is now a Senior Consultant to an agency of the Federal Government. His perspectives on the criticality of aeronautical communications in the business enterprise “day-to-day” as well as the senior executive command/control/communications arena are presented in this year’s guest military speaker forum at Satcom Direct’s 2012 Connecting With Customers.

We’re pleased to have Sanaa Saadani of Inmarsat’s London HQ, return to Las Vegas for her fourth Connecting With Customers conference. Her popular seminar provides an in-depth and more technical aspect for existing and future services, capabilities and applications. This seminar is great for both those with little to no Inmarsat experience all the way up to a seasoned user or integration engineer.
Datalink Technical Forum
This session will be a technical review of datalink capabilities: how it works, what functions are available to flight crews and ground support staff, how avionics impact the functions available, availability of services by region, crew procedures, and potential issues that might be encountered. An overview of Air Traffic Management changes requiring use of datalink will also be provided.
